American farmer built an off-road Chevrolet Corvette with a 6.2-liter diesel engineAugust 30, 2019
The motor was borrowed from a large SUV Chevrolet Suburban. He attracted a young American with his economy and unpretentiousness.
A young farmer from the US state of Kansas, Scott Ray created on the basis of the sports car Chevrolet Corvette C3 off-road car with the engine from the SUV Chevrolet Suburban. He acquired a sports car about ten years ago: a young man rode it to school. However, over time, the engine required major repairs. The owner of the Corvette C3 decided to change the usual engine to diesel, because he considered this type of power units more practical and economical than conventional gasoline. Ray studied this issue and found that the Corvette without any modifications and very successfully complements the 6.2-liter engine from the Chevrolet Suburban SUV.
The power unit with a sports car was shared by the old Suburban 1987 model year: the SUV itself was in poor condition, while its engine was working very well. The purchase of this SUV cost the farmer only 700 dollars.
Rei not only changed the engine in his sports car, but also repaired the transmission and changed all gaskets, seals and bearings. Ray has been driving an off-road diesel engine with a diesel engine under the hood for a year now. For every hundred kilometers, such a sports car spends about seven liters of fuel. Currently, Ray is looking for a buyer for his car and is planning a new project. He wants to equip an old Ford F-150 with a Cummins diesel engine.
