Amazon started using Rivian vans to deliver goods to customersFebruary 4, 2021
The young electric startup Rivian, which currently continues to actively attract multimillion-dollar investments, has long since announced its partnership with Amazon. The automaker has promised to develop an all-electric delivery van for the partner and has delivered on its promise.
The Rivian Amazon electric van was unveiled late last year. On the eve, in the news feeds there was information that Amazon began to use Rivian electric vans in its work. So far, such battery-powered vehicles can only be found in Los Angeles. However, by the end of the year, 15 more cities will be included in this list.
A curious fact, on the electric car itself there is not a single Rivian logo, but there is no shortage of the Amazon inscriptions. This once again confirms the exclusivity of this project. In total, by 2030, Amazon is going to purchase 100,000 of these vans. This is the largest deal in the electric commercial vehicle business.
The first 10,000 electric vehicles will join Amazon’s fleet by 2022. Without recharging, such an electric van will travel about 240 kilometers.
In the meantime, it became known that the Lordstown electric van will receive a class-leading range. The premiere of a novelty from another American startup should take place this summer, but it will only reach the assembly line in 2022.
