Amazon and startup Rivian unveil first electric delivery vanOctober 8, 2020
This is the first of 100,000 cars that Amazon has promised.
Finally, after months of waiting, Amazon received its first of its purchased vans from startup Rivian. The car itself is simple and practical – as the delivery car requires. Interestingly, the technical characteristics of the model have not yet been announced, but it is known that one battery charge will last for 240 kilometers.
According to the developers, when designing the van, they took into account all the features of cars in this area, they strove to make it comfortable and safe, and for this they studied how the driver gets behind the wheel, how their workspace is organized and many other aspects.
In total, Amazon expects to purchase 100,000 electric delivery vans from Rivian. By 2040, the company expects to completely eliminate the use of classic cars with internal combustion engines, and by 2030 use energy from renewable sources. In addition, 1,800 electric vans have been ordered from Mercedes-Benz for Amazon Europe.
