Alpine moved to Formula 1September 7, 2020
Alpine will open a new page in its motorsport history – for the first time in Formula 1. Beginning in the 2021 season, the Renault Group will be the Alpine F1 Team powered by the Renault E-TECH hybrid engine.
From the 2021 Formula 1 season, the Renault Group team will be called Alpine and will receive a livery in the colors of the French flag. The name Alpine, known for its records and successes in endurance racing and rallying, will rightfully take its place in the Formula 1 World Championship with its high standards, prestige, entertainment and dynamics.
The Alpine brand, a symbol of sporting prowess, elegance and agility, pays homage to the experience that pioneered the A110. For Alpine, this is a key milestone to accelerate development and increase brand influence. Groupe Renault’s unique expertise in hybrid powertrains will continue to benefit the team – the ETech name remains.
The signing of the new Agreement of Agreement with budget cuts and the introduction of new technical regulations from 2022 confirms the determination of the Renault Group to return to the podium and win in new colors.
“Alpine is a beautiful, powerful and vibrant brand that brings smiles to the faces of fans. By introducing Alpine – a symbol of French excellence – in the most prestigious car races in the world, we continue the struggle of automakers in the renewed Formula 1. Alpine will also bring its values to Formula 1 – elegance, ingenuity and boldness, ”said Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group.
