Alpina brought the B8 Gran Coupe to the testSeptember 16, 2020
Alpina is working on its own variant of the BMW 8-Series, judging by the photos.
There isn’t much camouflage on this big four-door BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe. This is because we have the new Alpina B8, at least that’s what spy photos tell us. The exterior changes to the Alpina are always minor, but the black spoked wheels on this prototype, the license plate and the camouflage on the bumpers are clear references to its origins.
Another surprise is the rear panel, which includes four exhaust vents instead of the trapezoidal outlets on the standard 8-Series. And this is definitely not an M8 Gran Coupe, as the pipes are more oval compared to the circular exhaust vents on the M8. The modest rear diffuser on this test car is also slightly more aggressive.
Alpina is completing test work on its B8 both at the Nurburgring and beyond. As usual, we can expect a solidly modified BMW from the tuner with a very sporty yet stylish approach. On this prototype, you can still notice the chrome on the grille and the absence of any black accents, just sporty chic.
According to preliminary information, the new product will use a 4.4-liter Biturbo V8, like the Alpina on the XB7, an engine variant with an output of up to 621 hp. and 800 Nm, which is actually also used in the M8 Competition. The Alpina B8 should accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in about 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km / h.
