All new Jaguar Land Rover cars will be updated “by air”November 29, 2019
On all the news of the Jaguar Land Rover concern, it will be possible to update the firmware of the multimedia system “over the air”.
This functionality can be used by car buyers who have Touch Pro and Touch Pro Duo complexes, and owners of outdated cars will be offered to install advanced equipment in special conditions.
The first car to support the “Over the Air” (Software Over The Air, SOTA) update was the new Land Rover Defender. And now all JLR machines with Touch Pro and Touch Pro Duo media systems will be given this option.
Owners of old models will be offered to re-equip their cars for SOTA, and also to install fresh variations of multimedia complexes. According to the automaker, the new equipment will be compatible with almost all cars produced since 2015 – this is about 500 thousand cars.
It is worth noting that the introduction of SOTA is part of the strategy of the British corporation, providing for the transition to digital services. The first such function was given to the new Defender with the Pivi Pro media system. Its differences are a simple and convenient interface, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the ability to connect two devices via Bluetooth, and wireless charging.
It also became known earlier that fancy smartwatch displays will appear in JLR machines. Such curved screens will be deprived of any buttons and repeat the panel in color.
