Smart has introduced electrical modifications of all models from its current lineup. Their first public exhibition will take place in late September at the Paris Motor Show. Electric Smart ForTwo last generation can travel on a single charge of 160 kilometers, and ForFour and the ForTwo cabrio – 155 kilometers.
Model is equipped with a three-phase electric motor, which drives the rear wheels. Output of motor is 81 horsepower and 160 Nm of torque. From zero to hundred kilometers per hour ForTwo accelerates in 11.5 seconds, ForTwo cabrio – for 11.8 seconds, and ForFour – for 12.7 seconds. The maximum speed in all cases is electronically limited to 130 kilometers per hour.
Electric motors of smart powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 17.6 kilowatt-hours. Models are equipped with a powerful battery charger, through which you can recharge the batteries for two and a half hours. In 2017, as an option for the car will be offered even more productive equipment, which in some regions will allow to charge for 45 minutes.
The models are also equipped with a special regime of control electronics – ECO, which allows by changing some settings to move and at the same time to save energy as much as possible. Plus, the electrical smart equipped with a recuperation system that recovers energy in the battery during coasting and braking. The system is able to change the level of self-recovery, for example, based on the current traffic situation.

Electric versions of Smart also equipped with the system, which allows you to control certain vehicle functions using the application on a mobile gadget. The driver can, for example, point out time and adjust the climate unit at the desired temperature when the machine will still be in charge.
For models will be available a design–package that requires a green exterior elements, as well as a variety of options from the company Brabus.
Sales of electrical smart will begin in early 2017. The cheapest electric car will cost in Germany to 21 940 euros and the most expensive – in the 25 200 euros.
Smart ForTwo electric version of the previous generation was completed with a 74-horsepower engine, which is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 17.6 kilowatt-hours. Cruising range is 139 kilometers.
