Alfa Romeo will release the first electric car in two yearsJune 6, 2020
The company is busy preparing for the release of a compact crossover with an electric power plant.
Italian brand Alfa Romeo is going to release an electric crossover based on PSA already in 2022. The publication Autocar revealed some information that the Peugeot e-2008 platform, on the basis of which the new Opel Mokka is also being developed, can form the basis of the first electric car of the company. The French crossover is sold with no alternative electric motor and front-wheel drive, but Alfa Romeo intends to develop a twin-engine variation.
The new compact crossover should get all-wheel drive and become more dynamic than the Peugeot e-2008. The car will be the first electric crossover in the Alfa Romeo model range, and the automaker is putting a lot on the model, especially given the constant tightening of environmental standards. After the production of the Giulietta hatchback is completed this year, only the Giulia and Stelvio models will remain in the company’s lineup, and in 2021 it will be replenished with the Tonale crossover, and the appearance of a new model in 2022 looks natural.
