Alfa Romeo Tonale won’t get Quadrifoglio versionApril 11, 2020
The Alfa Romeo Tonale crossover will compete with some of the best SUVs in the compact segment, such as the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC40. However, he will not receive a high-performance version.
Italian media reports that the smaller brother of Stelvio will not be embellished with the Quadrifoglio lettering, which causes an increase in adrenaline, as the company’s main goal is to launch it and focus on more profitable versions. As a result, future buyers will have to be content with the usual options.
Unlike the Stelvio and Giulia models, which are based on the Giorgio platform, Tonale will reportedly run on the same architecture as the Jeep Renegade and Compass, called the FCA Small Wide 4×4. It will also be the first Alfa Romeo hybrid car with a plug-in, which is already available in the 4xe versions of Renegade and Compass.
The 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor develop up to 240 hp. in two “jeeps”, offering maximum all-electric mileage of 50 km and maximum speed in EV mode – 130 km / h. It is assumed that the top version of Tonale will be launched with a soft hybrid system and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with a capacity of up to 330 horsepower.
It goes without saying that Alfa Romeo will also not create the Tonale GTA, as this plate is currently reserved only for Giulia. We cannot be sure of anything in these difficult times, but if Alfa Romeo adheres to the plan, then Tonale should appear in the first half of 2021.
