It seems that during the assembly of some cars Alfa Romeo was flooded with an unknown liquid, and in the expansion tank of the brake system. The automaker is not sure of the reliability of several hundred of its cars and announced the start of a service campaign.
As reported on the official website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on the US highways, the Italian automaker is going to recall the Stelvio crossovers and Giulia sedans, in which the brake fluid is not complied with under the hood. A total of 307 cars of the 2018 model year fall under the review.
The automaker has already commented on the incident. According to Alfa Romeo, the brake fluid in the recalled cars may contain impurities of other oils, and they do not comply with the regulations of the Alfa Romeo plant located in the city of Cassino, Lazio.
According to the National Traffic Safety Administration on the tracks, the history of this defect began to develop from November 23 of the current year, when two cars failed the factory tests due to clutch problems, after which an investigation was launched. A few days later it was revealed that some brake fluid and transmission oil mixed with an unknown mineral oil were poured into some cars at the plant.
