Alfa Romeo has announced a new crossover Tonale and showed the first sketchesMarch 5, 2019
Judging by the first renderer – the car will turn out very stylish and corresponding to the spirit of the times. Hopefully, the production version will retain its charm and look just as good.
The company clearly hinted, or rather announced loudly to the whole world about its intention to release another Tonale crossover. Apparently, it will take place on a step below the current version of Stelvio and will be more compact. However, electrification can be a “trick” of the car. Despite the fact that at the moment it is a concept, it signals the brand’s intention to diversify its portfolio by adding another car.
Judging by the image and sketches, the future Alfa Romeo Tonale has combined a modern approach to design, current and future brands with a touch of retro-style. For example, 21-inch wheels resemble an old-school drive, giving a reference to the mid-engine 33 Stradale of the late 1960s.
Alfa Romeo said that the side profile hints at Duetto and Disco Volante Spider. The back of the concept with rounded glass, roof spoiler, smooth rear lights on the entire width gives Tonale an interesting look, which we hope will be transferred to the production model, with minimal changes.
At the moment, the technical characteristics are not reported, but the company is talking about Tonale as a hybrid with the ability to connect charging. In total, by the end of 2022, the brand will release six PHEVs, and Tonale will certainly become one of them.
