Official representatives of the Italian brand confirmed a recent rumor that Alfa Romeo management decided to completely abandon the further production of the 4C model.

Yes, yes, the further development of the smallest sports car Alfa Romeo, it was decided to completely stop – this was told by company officials. Serial production of the 4C model began in 2013, but since 2015, the Spider version (roadster) has also been added to the coupe. Since officially the production of Alfa Romeo 4C is completely stopped, you can buy a car only if a couple of brand-new 4Cs are left in stock at the company’s dealers. It is reported that in France there are only 20 left.

Recall that the Alfa Romeo 4C is equipped with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a capacity of 240 horsepower. The car received a lightweight body structure with an average engine location. The total weight of the machine is only 895 kg.

The discontinuation of the 4C model clearly corresponds to the new strategy of the Italian brand Alfa, which recently announced the abandonment of most of its sports projects. Together, the company will devote all its attention to developing more profitable models. Despite such truly successful models as the Giulia sports sedan and the Stelvio crossover, the automaker was never able to get a large sales volume in Europe. The new Tonale crossover, which will debut in 2021, will certainly help the brand become more successful.

The future of the Italian brand can improve significantly after the merger of the Italian-American concern FCA, which owns Alfa Romeo, with the French concern PSA. Alfa Romeo can have at its disposal many modern technologies that it did not have before.

Not so long ago, we wrote that Alfa Romeo may abandon the production of sports cars. There is a possibility that the Italian corporation will change its mind to release two new sports cars, but will include crossovers in its lineup.
