Alfa Romeo will develop a new version of the Giulia model in the coupe body. The two-door will be presented by the end of this year. Sales of the car will start in 2019, reports Autocar. According to the publication, the coupe will receive a hybrid power unit with a system of kinetic energy recovery, which will provide additional power to the car, and a 2.9-liter gasoline engine.
It is expected that the power of such a modification will exceed 650 horsepower. Thus, according to this indicator, the novelty will outperform its competitors, among which BMW M4 DTM, Audi RS5 and Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe.
In the engine range, the car will also include gasoline and diesel engines. Among them, the 2.9-liter six-cylinder with two turbines with a capacity of 510 horsepower. According to the preliminary, the car will receive a prefix Sprint in the name.
The world premiere of the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan was held at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. The car, which became the successor of the 159 model, was built on a new platform equipped with a two-lever pendant in front and a multi-lever rear. The sedan is the best in the classroom rigidity of the body on torsion and uniform spreading along the axles.
The company also had plans to develop Giulia in the bodywork wagon, but later it was decided to refuse them. The management of the brand considered the creation of such a machine inappropriate.
