Air conditioning in Bugatti cars may well cool a small apartmentJuly 13, 2020
According to Julie Lemke, who is the chief designer of the air conditioning systems installed in the hypercars of the French brand Bugatti, spoke about the design features of such systems for extremely fast cars.
The development of an automobile air conditioner is not as simple as one might suggest. With the history of the appearance of air conditioning, which dates back to 1933, you fully expect that equipping a car with air conditioning will be as standard as installing car seats.
But just like the seats, air conditioning must be specific to each car. This is exactly the case with Bugatti hypercars, and Julie Lemke, a carmaker for their air conditioning systems, spoke about the nuances of her work.
Ms. Lemke explains that one of the problems with installing an air conditioner for Bugatti cars is the fact that each person has their own optimum temperature.
Air conditioning should work efficiently and without noise. It is important that it works in the background when passengers feel comfortable without even noticing it.
Another important factor is the high speed of the car. Since Bugatti cars, in particular the Chiron, Divo and Chiron Pur Sport hypercars, develop incredible speeds, the air conditioning system in them differs from those that are accepted in conventional cars, because the system has to take air from the street at speeds of 250 kilometers per hour and above.
Most importantly, the Bugatti windshields are almost flat, tilting just 21.5 degrees compared to 30 degrees of a conventional compact car. This adds more sunshine to the interior.
To solve this problem, Lemke said that Bugatti air conditioning compressors have cooling capacity of up to 10 kilowatts (13 horsepower). This is enough to cool an entire apartment of 80 square meters.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the Bugatti will release a Chiron roadster hypercar. The car will be assembled in a single copy, which is why its cost will increase at times.
