After the atelier of Hennessey, McLaren 600LT can contend on an equal footing with Bugatti VeyronFebruary 6, 2019
For the British sports coupe, there are three “performance packages” in the most powerful of which, the maximum engine reaches 1,001 horsepower.
Production of McLaren 600LT lasts only 12 months, but the American tuning studio Hennessey already offers to upgrade the power of the car, which will be produced in limited editions. In the HPE1000 TOP configuration, the 3.8-liter Twin Turbo V8 engine develops maximum power of 1001 horsepower and 1173 Nm of torque. While the standard version of this motor could boast only 592 hp. and 620 Nm of torque.
“I decided to buy my 600LT for the same reason that I bought the new Ford GT to give our team a reliable reference point for our own Venom F5 hypercar,” said company boss John Hennessy in an interview with Top Gear.
After driving the McLaren, he decided that “he needs even more power,” and forced his team to modernize the British coupe. Mr. Hennessy believes that the 600LT with the HPE1000 power upgrade package can be a real threat to the McLaren Speedtail hypercar.
To obtain such a significant increase in power for the 600LT, the guys from the Hennessey studio installed upgraded turbines, a high-performance bypass valve, new exhaust equipment, a modernized intercooler, high-capacity air filters and the Motec engine management system. The 7-speed gearbox was also reconfigured so that it could cope with the monstrous torque.
“Package” HPE 700 increases power up to 708 hp (861 Nm), and the HPE 800 version – up to 805 hp (979 Nm).
