Acura’s new flagship MDX SUV goes into productionJanuary 14, 2021
Acura has begun production of the next-generation MDX at its East Liberty Auto plant in Ohio, while the Anne, Ohio plant is building a 3.5-liter V6 for the SUV.
“In order for the SUV to fulfill its new role as the flagship model of the Acura brand, we are clearly focused on taking the MDX to the next level, creating a true revolution that will spark passion, excitement and emotion like never before,” said global brand development leader MDX , Tom Nguyen.
Designed from the ground up and backed by an all-new light truck platform, the fourth-generation SUV will begin arriving at dealerships on February 2. Pricing will start at $ 46,900 for the base front-wheel drive model, while the Technology Package starts at $ 51,600. All-wheel drive versions will cost between $ 48,900 and $ 60,650
Initially, performance will be exclusively driven by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 290 hp. and 362 Nm of torque. This motor is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive, as well as an optional Acura Torque Vectoring SH-AWD system.
The 2022 MDX lineup will be expanded in the summer with the introduction of the MDX Type S. The top version will use a new turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with approximately 355 hp. and 480 Nm of torque, and will also feature improved brakes, larger wheels and a sportier style.
