Acura has published a teaser for the updated TLX sedanMay 26, 2020
The press service of the Japanese brand has published a teaser image of the updated TLX sedan. It is known that the official debut of the new items will take place in just a few days.
Acura TLX 2021 model year will debut on May 28, but as part of its advertising campaign, the automaker continues to release small details about the new model. The sedan will ride on the new platform, which will be exclusive to the Acura brand, and will have a front suspension with double wishbone. The brand is positioning the new TLX as “the fastest, best to drive and the best equipped sports sedan in Acura history.”
Today, MacPherson strut suspension is much more common than a double wishbone arrangement.
Installing a MacPherson is less complicated as it has fewer joints, but a double wishbone provides better control of camber and toe. In general, double wishbones are the preferred setting for high performance vehicles because they usually result in better handling. Older Acura models also had this design, such as, for example, Legend 1986-1995, Integra 1990-2001 and TL 1996-2014.
In addition to the standard TLX version, Acura will introduce a more powerful version of the model under the revived designation Type S. This version of the new product will use a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged, but the company has not yet revealed its power. The Type S will also come with a Super Handling all-wheel drive system. The body will receive a spoiler on the trunk lid, four round exhaust pipes and a diffuser.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the new Acura TLX sedan will receive a “charged” version. The car will be similar to the previously presented concept car. And the main innovation will be the version with the V6 turbo engine.
