According to Ferrari, the F8 Tributo is not that new.March 10, 2019
Ferrari F8 Tributo is essentially another version of the model 488. In the current model range of the brand, it will be between the GTB and Pista versions. In a couple of months, a completely new hybrid model will be introduced.
New Italian supercar Ferrari F8 Tributo was presented at the Geneva Motor Show a couple of days ago as a replacement for the current 488 GTB. The car received impressive technical characteristics – a reduction in the total weight of 40 kg, 720 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. Under the hood is a 3.9-liter V8 with two turbines. The sprint to the first 100 km / h takes 2.9 seconds, which is 0.1 s faster than the previous 488 GTB. And the maximum speed is 340 km / h.
This is really a step forward in terms of technology, but the Ferrari F8 Tributo is not really a completely new model.
Ferrari technical director Michael Lighters commented on this point in an interview with Road & Track. A small digression: on the threshold of the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, a prototype of the hybrid version of the 488 model was observed in tests. Thus, it was assumed that the receiver of the 488 supercar would be electrified and serve as a new platform for future Ferrari models with a hybrid engine layout.
However, according to Mr. Liters, they decided to choose the F8 supercar as a replacement for the 488 model. Thus, instead of introducing a brand new car, they actually presented another version of the model 488, so that it was between the current GTB and Pista.
The good news is that the future hybrid model of Italian delirium will be a completely new car. Ferrari CEO Louis Calmieri confirmed that the hybrid model will appear in two to three months.
