ABT “pumped” the German baby Audi A1 SportbackAugust 29, 2019
Tuning company ABT decided to add power and torque to the stylish Audi compact compact hatchback. Engine power was increased to 236 hp. About the dynamic characteristics are not reported.
Last year, Audi’s prestigious car brand announced that it was not going to introduce a more powerful version for the new generation of its compact A1 Sportback hatchback. It’s about the S1 Sportback.
The German tuner, ABT, has developed a kit to upgrade the current A1. As a basis for the project, 40 TFSI equipment was taken. Under the hood of such a car is a gasoline engine with a capacity of 167 to 201 horsepower.
It is reported that now this figure is 236 hp (360 Nm), which probably improved the acceleration speed from 0 to 100 km / h – in the usual model, this time takes six and a half seconds. Most likely, the maximum speed has also increased – in the standard version it is 235 km / h.
In addition to increasing power, ABT ateliers installed more efficient suspension springs, which reduce the ground clearance of the compact hatchback by as much as 30 millimeters. 18-inch rims with glossy black trim were also installed.
Compared with the “charged” S1 Sportback of the previous generation, the modified A1 has an additional 8 horses and 10 Nm less torque. If the S1 had a traditional Audi Sport Quattro all-wheel drive system, then the most powerful A1 sold today is still equipped with a front axle drive.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that Audi will no longer produce an A3 convertible. Representation of the German Audi brand in the United States announced the imminent start of sales of the new version of the A3 2020 model year.
