Abarth 124 Roadster Set Guinness World RecordOctober 24, 2018
Stuntman Alastair Moffat behind the wheel of the Abarth 124 roadster set a new Guinness Book record. He is the fastest five times in a row made eight between two parked cars. Doing the trick took Moffat 45.66 seconds.
For the race, the serial version of the Abarth 124 was used without any changes in the engine and transmission. Rear wheel drive roadster only turned off the stabilization system and increased the pressure in the tires to reduce the area of their contact with the coating. There is no video record of how the record was set up.
The Abarth 124 is powered by a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine that delivers 170 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. From zero to one hundred kilometers per hour, the roadster accelerates in 6.8 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 232 kilometers per hour.
Two years ago, Moffat set a record, unfolding in a slide between parked cars, the distance between which exceeded the overall length of his car by 2.25 meters. In January 2015, he parked the Fiat 500 hatchback between two cars, the distance between which was only 7.5 centimeters greater than the overall length of the Fiat.
In the summer of this year, the BMW M2 sports coupe set a record for bursting balloons with a laser pointer. In one minute, the car destroyed 79 balls, improving Ashrit Furman’s previous achievement, which in 2016 burst 63 balls.
