A very strange car from the 1980s will be sold at auctionFebruary 14, 2020
It is a rare Italdesign Aztec roadster with two separate cabs – for the driver and his passenger.
Online auction Bring a Trailer put up for sale a unique roadster Italdesign Aztec, released in 1988. This car has a rather unusual architecture – two separate cabins for the driver and passenger. Each of them is equipped with a removable glass roof. So far, the auction rate is 36,250 dollars. Experts call this amount quite modest for such a unique car, created by eminent designer Giorgetto Giugiaro in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Italian design bureau Italdesign. The debut of this original car was organized at the Turin Motor Show in 1988.
After the public premiere, the novelty became available for purchase. The plans of the developers listed only 50 of these machines, but failed to implement their plan. Only 18 copies were released.
The exclusive roadster has special button controls at the rear wheels. With the help of special codes, the car owner will be able to open the doors, control tire pressure, etc. There is a handle resembling a steering wheel in front of the passenger seat, as well as a trip computer, which can be found in rally cars.
Among the available equipment also appear climate control and an advanced audio system for that time. For the performance of the roadster meets the 2.2-liter five-cylinder Audi turbo engine with a return of 250 hp. A pair of it is 5MKPP, and the all-wheel drive system was borrowed from the legendary hatchback Lancia Delta Integrale. The car is in perfect condition and boasts a low mileage – 414 kilometers.
