A small version of the Ford Baby Bronco SUV will be named MaverickJanuary 28, 2020
The fact that a smaller version of the revived American SUV will receive the designation Maverick, it became known from the catalog of spare parts for new items. A small crossover is due to debut this year.
The new data confirms earlier rumors that Ford has decided to revive the Maverick “nickname” for the compact square crossover that was formerly known as Baby Bronco. Bronco 6G forum member found an entry in the 2020 Ford Maverick internal parts catalog.
Previously, Ford applied for registration of the Maverick trademark in the United States – this was back in December 2016, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted the request only in June 2018.
It is curious that the original Maverick was a compact car (coupe) in the Ford line, and it was produced in the 1970s.
The new Maverick will have a common platform with the current Ford Escape crossover, aka Kuga, but will get a square body shape. Looking at the published picture of the body of the novelty, we can understand what exactly we can expect. It may well be that the novelty will also have a common engine range with the same Escape – we are talking about a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine and its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder analogue. Given the brutal appearance of the crossover, expect that additional equipment will also be offered to make the small crossover more suited for off-road driving.
Maverick is reported to debut in the first half of 2020, and then go on sale before the end of the year. The standard Bronco will also be unveiled soon, perhaps this will happen at the New York Auto Show in April this year.
Not so long ago, we wrote that the Chevy Silverado Jackal or a worthy rival to the Ford F-150 Raptor pickup. Chevy Silverado Jackal was first shown in October last year, and now PaxPower has arrived on TFLnow on YouTube to take a detailed video about this car.
