Golden Ray cargo ship with more than four thousand Hyundai and Kia cars rolled over in the Atlantic Ocean
A Golden Ray cargo ship with more than four thousand vehicles on board rolled over in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the US state of Georgia. It is reported by Reuters.
According to preliminary data, the ship, heading for the Middle East, was transporting South Korean brands Hyundai and Kia, which were released in the United States. At the same time, Hyundai officials deny the information about the brand cars on the ship in distress.
After the crash, a group of rescuers set off from Brunswick on two boats and one helicopter. During the disaster, a crew of 24 was on board Golden Ray, consisting mainly of South Korean and Philippine citizens. 20 people were saved immediately, but the rest remained on board.
About five hours after the accident, rescuers managed to establish contact with the rest of the crew and find out that they are all alive. An operation was immediately organized to rescue the sailors, who were released within three hours. They were sent for a medical examination, which showed that nothing threatens their life and health.
.@USCG and rescue crews have extracted the final #GoldenRay crew member safely. All crew members are accounted for. Operations will now shift fully to environmental protection, removing the vessel and resuming commerce. #HappeningNow #BreakingNews #Breaking pic.twitter.com/YgEM6Eb2qO— USCGSoutheast (@USCGSoutheast) 9 вересня 2019 р.
