The journalists published photos from tests of the camouflaged Maserati GranTurismo prototype. The car was in the early stages of testing as it used an Alfa Romeo body.

From these photos, Maserati is gearing up for the debut of a new generation of GranTurismo and GranCabrio models. What appears to casual onlookers as a pretty old version of another Italian sedan, Alfa Romeo Guilia, is actually a disguised test prototype of Maserati’s newest sports car.

The most obvious sign that this is a prototype of a new product from Maserati is a slightly lengthened front end. Other telltale signs are the convex wheel arches that cannot hide the wider track.

Further evidence that the prototype belongs to Maserati can be found on the rear license plate, and next to the registration number is not a thin trident at all.

Finally, there is a windshield sticker with the M189 lettering, which denotes the in-house index of the next Maserati Grand Tourer.

While the final body style is still under wraps, we can get some insight into Maserati’s design direction from the Alfieri concept unveiled earlier. The long bonnet of this prototype matches the current styling of Maserati vehicles. Meanwhile, the interior is pure Guilia, nothing outstanding.

The new GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be available with both a gasoline engine and an electric vehicle. The good old-fashioned internal combustion engine will be the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 found in Maserati’s latest MC20 supercar.

The electric version of the GranTurismo will be powered by the Maserati Folgore powertrain. The new Folgore EV models, Italian for “lightning”, will have a three-engine system with two engines in the rear and one in the front, making these vehicles all-wheel drive.

Not long ago,ФгещЕшьуіТуці showed a video showing the fast driving of the 2021 Maserati Quattroporte Trofeo. A video appeared on the foreign YouTube channel, which captured the rather dynamic driving of the Italian Maserati Quattroporte 2021 model year in the powerful performance of Trofeo. The car rushed along the German Autobahn on winter tires.
