A prototype of the updated BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is seenDecember 18, 2019
Journalists captured the prototype of the updated BMW 2 Series Active Tourer minivan. The official presentation of the new items is scheduled for the end of 2020.
The last time we saw an updated version of the compact 2 Series Active Tourer minivan from the Bavarian brand BMW, a prototype car was spotted somewhere in warm places. Now the team of engineers of the automaker is testing the car in winter conditions in snowy locations. A prestigious novelty that is available only to European customers of the brand, and this time “wrapped up” with a large amount of camouflage. But still there are some interesting features that you should pay attention to.
Those of you who are familiar with the current version of the Bavarian minivan may be tempted to say that there are very few changes in the style of the car.
However, if you look closely at the published photographs, you will realize that there are many fundamental differences, such as a change in the position of the side mirrors, and, of course, a new “face” with a large false radiator grille.
In fact, the whole car will slightly increase in size compared to the current version of the model. The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is expected to be based on BMW’s new front-wheel drive FAAR platform, which debuted earlier this year on the 1 Series hatchback, and thanks to which, the overall length of the Active Tourer will become longer, as will its wheelbase. Thus, the updated minivan should offer more free space for rear passengers and the luggage compartment. It is also reported that the list of equipment with various safety technologies and driver assistance will be significantly expanded. Front-wheel drive will be standard, and all-wheel drive can be ordered before for a fee. Buyers will be offered in-line three- or four-cylinder engines running on gasoline or diesel. It is also expected the appearance and plug-in hybrid performance of new items.
We assume that there will be many more months before the debut of the production car. Our sources say that the official presentation of the new items is expected at the end of 2020, and the car will be positioned as a 2021 model year car.
