A prototype of the previously presented SEAT El-Born concept was seen on tests.September 30, 2019
The electric hatchback from Spain will be very similar to the German Volkswagen ID.3 electric car. The official presentation and start of sales of the serial version of the previously presented SEAT El-Born concept is scheduled for 2020.
The Spanish company SEAT recently introduced the all-electric Mii model, as well as the plug-in hybrid crossover Tarraco, and in the near future plans to show several more new products with zero emissions. Thus, the automaker began electrifying its lineup. In the near future will be presented a production version of the El-Born concept, which was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show (March of this year).
Currently, SEAT engineers are testing prototypes of the electric hatchback before its official debut. Named after the fashion district in Barcelona, the Spanish novelty will be much like the German electric car Volkswagen ID.3 – both in terms of its technical characteristics and design.
Despite the fact that the seen prototype SEAT El-Born was heavily disguised, we can clearly see the style and shape of the model, which clearly repeats the style of Volkswagen ID.3.
These two electric cars will not be 100% identical, as there will be some subtle visual differences between El-Born and ID.3 – the shape of the headlights and taillights, as well as modified bumpers and other alloy wheels. I must say that the electric novelty from SEAT looks more attractive to a younger audience.
The Spanish electric car is likely to be equipped with a battery of 45, 58 and 77 kWh – for the latter option, the range will be 550 km. The machine will receive a 204-horsepower electric motor (instantaneous torque is 310 Nm). This is enough to develop a top speed of 160 km / h. The start of sales of SEAT El-Born is scheduled for 2020. Insiders report that the price will be at least 30,000 euros
