A new version of Opel Corsa has been noticed on the tests.May 25, 2019
Journalists had the opportunity not only to remove the prototype of the novelty from a distance, but they were allowed to even sit behind the wheel of the car. After its public debut in September, the all-new Opel Corsa will go on sale in Europe in November. So far nothing is said about prices.
The current Opel Corsa E, which is one of the oldest compact hatchbacks in Europe, has been available since 2014. The model of the fifth generation was not so new when it debuted, since it is largely based on the Corsa D, released in 2006. In just a few months, we will see a brand new subcompact hatchback at the Frankfurt Motor Show (September).
Meanwhile, foreign journalists were able to capture the prototype of the new B-segment, which passed the final tests in southern Europe. More importantly, our colleagues had the opportunity to “jump” on the driver’s seat of an almost production car, in order to personally experience the Corsa F.
They learned from Opel representatives about the size of the car, in particular, about the front overhang, which is now 50 mm shorter. Even though the nose was shortened, the car will actually be slightly longer (4.06 meters), and its wheelbase will increase by 28 mm. It will also be slightly wider, in addition, its ground clearance will decrease by 48 mm.
As for weight, in April, Opel revealed details that the five-door Corsa F will be lighter by 108 kilograms – this is a basic version. As a result, it will weigh only 980 kg. Also, representatives of Opel reported that the updated Corsa will be available with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with turbocharging capacity from 75 to 128 hp, as well as a 1.5-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 99 hp. Over time, a fully electric version of the model will also be offered.
