A new generation BMW 2 Series coupe was seen on testsJuly 14, 2020
Some publications have published photos from the tests of camouflaged prototypes of the 2 Series of the new generation. It was captured several options for new items – the American and European versions.
The current generation of the BMW 2 Series coupe was introduced back in 2014. A little over a week ago, we first saw the prototype of a completely new generation of Bavarian cars. Now we have the next batch of “spy” photos from the tests of two different prototypes of the novelty at once.
The rather heavy camouflage on the front and rear bumpers still hides design details, but we can say that the updated 2 Series coupe will get a smaller radiator grill.
Looking closely at the bottom of the front bumper, we can see what looks like a radar sensor. Speaking of the dimensions of the BMW false radiator grilles, as brand representatives recently said, branded “nostrils” of enormous size will only be available in the Gran Coupe version, that is, large, four-door coupes.
The BMW 2 Series will be built on the same CLAR platform as the 3 Series. This means that the novelty will receive rear-wheel drive, unlike the larger Gran Coupe of the updated “deuce”. It also means that under the hood there should be room for a six-cylinder engine, which in turn suggests that we can see a truly epic M2 at some point in the future.
However, before this happens, the regular 2 Series coupe should debut. According to rumors, this should happen in 2021. This probably means that the new generation 2 Series will debut as a 2022 model year coupe, and the high-performance M2 will go on sale as a 2023 model year car.
