A hybrid version of the Porsche 911 is sure to appearDecember 2, 2018
A new generation of German legends was developed with the consideration of the subsequent use of electric motors.
It has already been several days since the German automobile brand Porsche introduced a new (eighth) generation of its legendary 911 model. The classic model with the rear engine, received an internal index of 992.
As part of their recent interview with foreign specialized publications, automaker’s official representatives point out that the development of a hybrid version of the sports coupe is in full swing.
That’s just not a quick process – you have to wait four years.
According to the foreign specialized publication Auto Express UK, the director of the 911 product line, August Akhleitner, confirmed that 992 generations of the 911 sports coupe were designed to be ready for electrification. The appearance of a hybrid modification of the Porsche 911 can be expected by 2022. “This will be the next step in the evolution of our model.”
Unlike the Cayenne E-Hybrid, hybridization of the 911 model will be designed to increase productivity. It is expected that the hybrid 911 will use an exhaust gas regeneration system and a lithium-ion battery to power the front axle. Battery charging will occur by itself.
There are suggestions also about where in the 911 family there will be several hybrid versions at once. One of them will be in the middle of the family – apparently as an alternative to the current 911 Carrera, while the other will be the ecological equivalent of a powerful 911 Turbo.
In the meantime, it became known that the Porsche company wants to make a crossover based on 911?
