70s McLaren motorhome secretly acquired by current directorAugust 31, 2020
This motorhome was produced in a single copy. It is painted orange and white – these are sponsor colors. Recall that at that time the popular cosmetics company Yardley was the sponsor of the racing team.
McLaren Racing team leader Zach Brown owns a 1972 Ford Condor RV that was once owned by McLaren. He managed to buy the camper for $ 32,500
He told reporters about his acquisition only after the deal was finalized. It is reported by the foreign portal motor1.com.
The RV has become a kind of mobile office for the team. At the same time, not only meetings were held here: the developers also took care of the resting places for the team. So, the inner space of the motorhome was divided into two zones: the work area, where the meetings were held, and the recreation area.
The McLaren motorhome has survived to this day in excellent condition. It is still equipped with a fully functional kitchen with stove, sink and refrigerator, comfortable sleeping places, dining area for six people, bathroom with shower, etc. According to Zach Brown, he would not spare the money to buy this motorhome. Interestingly, the bids at the auction were made by his friend, who was instructed to bargain until the final victory.
The motorhome, which has received a new owner, will continue to go to races: Zach Brown intends to live in it.
