6-motor SnakePit for 2000 horses are sold at auctionJanuary 1, 2019
The legendary dragster, created back in 1975, will be auctioned off at H&H Classics. The initial cost of the car will be 750 000 dollars.
Tomorrow, on January 2, 2019, a unique lot will be exhibited at the H & H Classics online auction. The car, created in a single copy of SnakePit by Barris Kustom will be offered with an initial price tag of 750,000 dollars. The car was built in 1975, it took four years of work to create it, as well as insane, at that time, $ 100,000.
A feature of the car is the presence of six Ford 351ci V8 engines, transmitting torque through two Ford C-6 automatic transmissions. Dragster, in total, has 12 carburetors, 48 exhaust pipes, consumption of about 900 liters of gasoline per 100 km, as well as a capacity of about 2,000 horsepower.
The length of the car is almost seven meters, and the salon is designed exclusively for two people. The maximum recorded speed is 483 km / h. SnakePit is controlled by two gas pedals, a pair of gear levers and a custom steering wheel.
Separately, I want to tell about the design – it is unusual and delightful for the year 1975. Apparently, the designers scooped the idea of the science fiction films of those times.
