2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to officially debut on October 26

After months of rumors and speculation, Chevrolet has finally released its first official teaser for the 2023 Corvette Z06 Coupe. Before that, we didn’t know when the higher performing Corvette would debut, but we heard the sound of its new V8 engine.

Shortly after the first ad, Chevrolet was spotted testing the new Z06 at the Nurburgring in Germany, and it was now clear why. The company has officially announced that the C8 Z06 generation will debut on October 26, 2021. The date was confirmed in a short video showing a test car driving through the streets of Europe, including the aforementioned Nurburgring and Sarthe Circuit.

“Built to enhance the thrill of driving, the Corvette Z06 is a supercar that works – whether it’s on country roads, autobahns or the world’s most recognizable highways like the Circuit de la Sarthe,” Chevrolet said in a press release. “More details on the Z06 will be provided as we get closer, and we will continue to update you when we have more information.”

The Circuit de la Sarthe is important to Chevrolet because the C8.R race car will be racing the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend. The C8.R was the first Corvette to be powered by a flat-crank V8, and this technology will now carry over to the road legal Z06.

The Z06 prototype is still heavily disguised, but it can be said to be significantly more aggressive than the base C8 Stingray. The car will receive a larger front spoiler, enlarged side air intakes, fender flares and a massive raised wing at the rear. The Z06 is expected to improve on the already insane performance of the C8 with a new 5.5-liter V8 rumored to produce 600 horsepower. Unlike the standard 6.2-liter V8 with a push rod that only spins up to 6,500 rpm, this flat-crank unit has to crank up to 9,000 rpm.
