2022 Subaru BRZ may get a “charged” versionApril 5, 2021
Subaru is already working on STI accessories and parts for its new sports coupe.
The Japanese company has officially begun accepting orders for the Subaru BRZ rear-wheel drive coupe, with the new model getting a sports version with a carbon fiber rear wing and 18-inch BBS forged wheels. In addition, the novelty is offered with a more powerful front spoiler, as well as a sporty rear “skirt” and additional aerodynamic improvements. Alternatively, it is proposed to replace the rear wing with a thinner spoiler on the trunk lid.
Subaru also offers an improved exhaust system, although no performance changes have been reported for the sporty BRZ from the standard version. As a reminder, the second generation model has a 2.4-liter engine with 228 hp. for the US, which is actually slightly lower than the 232 hp BRZ-spec JDM. Additionally, you can order settings to improve handling, especially when cornering. Completing the changes is an additional set of LED daytime running lights installed in the decorative section of the front air intakes.
We expect the fellow Toyota GR 86 to offer similar factory upgrades as soon as it goes on sale in Japan this fall. Additional features are expected to be offered as options, or hotter versions of the model will arrive later in the lifecycle. BRZ is due out in the States this fall. It may cost a little more than the previous model ($ 28,845).
