2022 Jeep Compass prepares for restylingOctober 6, 2020
Jeep’s entry-level crossover is ready for an upgrade. Jeep hasn’t announced when the updated Compass will launch, but it is expected to debut sometime in 2021 and go on sale as a 2022 model.
While the Grand Wagoneer Concept has garnered a lot of attention lately, Jeep is preparing a facelift for its entry-level Compass crossover. In Europe, the update brought the 2021 Jeep Compass a new turbocharged engine and dual-clutch automatic transmission, but the 2022 model is known to be redesigned.
Photo spies spotted Jeep testing a prototype of the restyled Compass, which has already removed some of the camouflage, which gives a clear idea of some of the design changes. Up front, the Jeep’s seven-slat grille looks larger, and the headlights have thinner bands. The front bumper also appears to have been revised, but no major changes are foreseen. The side profile looks identical to the current model, while the rear features new lighting graphics.
Despite the fact that the interior of the tested prototype was completely hidden from prying eyes, the large tablet-like screen intended for infotainment and navigation systems remained uncovered.
It is unknown if there will be any changes under the hood of the refreshed Compass, but the 2022 model is expected to retain the same 2.4-liter inline-four as the current model, which produces 184 horsepower and 237 Nm of torque combined. with a 6-speed automatic gearbox on the front-wheel drive configurations Latitude and Limited or with a 9-speed – on the all-wheel drive Trailhawk and Limited.
Jeep also offered the Compass with a 6-speed manual transmission, but this option was discontinued for the 2021 model year due to lack of customer demand. In Europe, Jeep will also sell the Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid and a 1.3-liter turbo version with 150 hp. as an option. However, you will have to wait and see if these versions become available for the US model.
