2022 Ford Maverick photographed on the assembly lineJanuary 9, 2021
A compact pickup truck was “caught” at the Mexican Ford plant. Pictures of a lonely truck without doors rolling on a conveyor belt are published by the Maverick Truck Club forum.
The car, which is easy to recognize the new Ford Maverick, is hidden under a layer of protective film. The model is based on the compact Bronco Sport SUV. The design of the pickup is quite traditional: the high and wide grille has a center bar with the Ford logo. It is in perfect harmony with the “turn signals” located inside the C-shaped optics.
Externally, the new Maverick will not conflict with other members of the Ford family of trucks, including the new F-150. Unlike the Ranger or F-Series, the Maverick gets a plastic front bumper trim. To many, such a detail may seem superfluous. Massive wheel arches, small discs and thick tire sidewalls hint at the good off-road qualities of the Ford pickup.
The body of the novelty looks monumental – with a passenger cabin and a cargo platform, connected by a single sheet metal stamping.
Under the hood of the pickup of the new model line, they expect to see a base 1.5-liter turbo engine, an optional four-cylinder turbocharged engine with two liters will be available.
The “junior” engine will be appreciated by fans of active out-of-town recreation, the “senior” will suit those who like to ride off-road. Ford may present a prettier pickup next spring. Deliveries of new items are expected at the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Ford will soon unveil its new car, the Equator. It is noteworthy that already 10 days before the premiere, the exterior of the novelty was revealed. But the salon is kept secret.
