2022 Fiat Toro compact truck introducedApril 23, 2021
The Italian automaker has unveiled its new compact Fiat Toro truck. New for the 2022 model year, in fact, is a redesigned version of the small Ram 1000.
The small Fiat Toro pickup is manufactured in Brazil and has been sold throughout Latin America since 2016, and some of you may know it as the Ram 1000. At 4,915 mm long and 1,844 mm wide, it is 55.88 mm shorter and 60.96mm narrower than its Ram counterpart.
New for the 2022 Fiat Toro version are updated split headlights with full LED headlights serving as direction indicators and daytime running lights.
The fog lights are also switching to light emitting diodes, and the main groups are thinner than before when using LEDs on more expensive trim levels.
A more obvious change is the false grille, as it now features Fiat branding in large letters, reflecting the branding used in other recent products from the Italian brand, including the smaller Strada pickup (also known as the Ram 700). The pickup is available with new alloy wheels, which range in size from 16 to 18 inches, depending on the trim selected.
While the exterior of the pickup hasn’t changed much, the interior has undergone more significant changes. Chief among them is a portrait-style infotainment system with a 10.1-inch screen, similar in appearance to those used in American Ram trucks. This is an additional touchscreen as the smaller versions have a horizontal display with a diagonal of 7 or 8.4 inches. Even the base model gets a 7-inch all-digital instrument cluster.
Fiat’s new product is available with a new 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol / ethanol engine. This engine delivers 185 horsepower (270 Nm), the leading torque exclusively to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. 4×2 and 4×4 versions are available depending on the engine. The highest priority in terms of thrust is the 170 hp 2.0-liter turbodiesel. and 350 Nm, transmitted to both axles via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that Fiat is preparing a van based on the Fiat New 500 electric car. Fiat is slowly starting the assembly of the electric Fiat 500 EV and announced its intention to offer the market a van version based on the New 500 electric car.
