2022 BMW X3 M crossover spotted in tests
January 21, 2021BMW has created a fictional “City M”, where all streets are flat, the weather is good and all cars are BMW M. BMW models.
Apart from the all-new convertible and a pair of M4 coupes, the refreshed X3 M and X4 M have been spotted in the convoy. This is an impressive collection of M models, but this time it is about the 2022 BMW X3 M. It will receive a minor update that includes a redesigned front fascia, revised grille and narrower headlights.
As for the latter, they include new LED daytime running lights that do away with the current C-shape. Noteworthy below is the updated air intake, which no longer features the bridge-like accent. Other changes are hidden behind camouflage, but the crossover is expected to receive a new rear bumper as well as updated taillights.
Photo spies have yet to get a peek inside, but the crossover will reportedly get a large infotainment system with the latest software. The model can also follow in the footsteps of the M3 and M4 with a new gear shifter and redesigned iDrive controller.
Under the bonnet, the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder is expected, producing 473 horsepower and 598 Nm of torque as standard. Moving to the Competition variant should increase that figure to at least 503 horsepower. The refreshed BMW X3 M is due to debut later this year, but the exact timing remains a mystery.
