2021 Audi Q5 Sportback coupe prototype spotted on testsJuly 24, 2020
The journalists published photos from tests of the coupe-like crossover Audi Q5 Sportback. The prototype of the novelty received a slight camouflage. The debut of the crossover will take place in the near future.
Previously, Audi only used the Sportback designation for its hatchbacks. Now, the word Sportback can also be found in the name of the crossovers. For example, Q3 Sportback or E-Tron Sportback. So now I designate the coupe versions of the brand’s crossovers. In this article, we will focus on another SUV that has received the now so fashionable coupe body type – the 2021 Q5 Sportback.
The belated response of the German brand Audi to the BMW X4 and Mercedes GLC Coupe was seen during the final tests at the Nürburgring race track.
The official debut of new items will take place at the end of this year. The subtle camouflage that covers the bodywork is pretty much useless as we can see most of the small exterior details. Basically, this is the same facelift of the 2021 Q5 with a more sloped roofline that provides a sportier side profile.
As with almost all coupe-shaped crossovers, practicality should suffer, as the sleeker rear of such cars will affect their carrying capacity. Due to the sloping roofline, don’t expect luggage space to match what you get in a traditional Q5. There is a third drawback to choosing the Sportback version, as this performance model will be more expensive than the usual 2021 Q5.
A more powerful SQ5 Sportback is probably only a matter of time, while an Audi spokesman recently suggested that an even more powerful RS Q5 could also appear in the future. Meanwhile, the regular version of the model is due to debut in the coming months.
