The 2020 BMW X6 debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show a few days ago, but that did not stop the company from teasing the upcoming X6 M.

Filmed at the BMW test center in Miramas, France, the clip shows Matias Malmedy, who is involved in the creation of the prototype X6 M Competition.

The video begins rather slowly, but Malmedy eventually meets with Rainer, who is the lead car project manager for the X5 M and X6 M. Then they look at a heavily disguised prototype that has a massive grille and a redesigned front bumper with large air intakes. The crossover also has front wing vents, a sports exhaust system with four tailpipes and a small rear spoiler.

The cab is pretty much carried over from the X6, but there are some unique touches that are masked in the video. Apparently, they include a unique switch, M-mark thresholds and headrests with special embroidery. Drivers can also count on a 12.3-inch digital console, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and an M leather steering wheel with contrast stitching.

After inspecting the crossover, Malmedy meets with Bernd, and the couple hit the road. Although the clip does not reveal the technical specifications, Bernd hints that the model has improved off-road capabilities.

The video lacks details, but it is expected that the X6 M will be equipped with a twin-cylinder 4.4-liter V8 engine that develops 592 hp. (441 kW / 600 hp) and 750 Nm of torque.

Given that BMW has already launched an advertising campaign for this model, the debut should take place very soon – perhaps already at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
