2019 Peugeot 2008 will be bigger and lighter than the current modelAugust 19, 2018
Already in 2019, the company Peugeot will introduce a new generation of off-road car 2008. As yet, there is little information, but some details have become known. And it is expected that the model will receive significant changes relative to the current version.
The new generation of Peugeot 2008 will be built on the modern modular PSA (CMP) platform, specially designed for use on compact cars of different segments. The first model for the new platform will be the Peugeot 208, which can debut in the spring as part of the Geneva Motor Show next year. The debut of the new crossover, possibly, will take place within the limits of the Frankfurt motor show.
Due to the use of the new platform, the next crossover generation will be larger than the current version. But more extensive use of aluminum alloy, and high-strength steel in the body will reduce the weight of the car by 40 kg.
It is assumed that the novelty will receive an extensive engine line, into which the 1.2-liter PureTech engine will go, in different trim levels, developing from 85 to 130 horsepower.
It is also assumed that the company will equip its future crossover with a half-liter diesel engine BlueHDi. In the basic version, the car will be offered exclusively with a manual gearbox for six steps. More expensive versions will also be available with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Closer by 2020, it is planned to submit a version with a plug-in hybrid, which will receive a battery capable of providing up to 50 km of mileage solely on electric traction. Another feature of the model will be fully electric modification, the range of which will be about 450 km.
In addition to major changes in the technical part, the company intends to completely redesign the interior and exterior design. This will be done to better meet the spirit of the times, and to better match the model of the new corporate design concept. Of course, it is too early to talk about concrete changes in the design, but it is likely that the car will look like its older “brothers” Peugeot 3008 and 5008.
Of course, the novelty will receive the information and entertainment system of the new generation of i-Cockpit from Peugeot, and a number of high-quality materials that are much more expensive than in this year’s 2008.
In the meantime, the Peugeot 508 looks pretty stylish, and according to the most “fresh” data, the new Peugeot 208 will receive some design features from the mid-size sedan / station wagon 508.
