The newest car will be released in a limited edition of 24 pieces

The Italian tuning studio Ares Design has opened the acceptance of orders for the new S1 Project Spyder roadster, which will run only 24 copies. The new car has received an engine boosted to 715 horsepower from the Corvette, which provides the car with acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.

The body of the roadster, like the recently unveiled Ares S coupe, is made entirely of carbon. At the same time, the open version does not have a windshield, but there are two wind deflectors developed by Centro Stile. They redirect the air flow to the air intakes behind the head restraints. Otherwise, the new car repeats Ares S.

The engine is the same as that of the coupe: a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8, located behind the backs of the seats, boosted to 715 horsepower and 968 Nm of torque. The same unit is installed on the eighth generation Chevrolet Corvette, but on it it develops 502 hp and 637 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled with an eight-speed robotized gearbox with two clutches. Rear-wheel drive.

The cost of the roadster has not yet been announced, but it is known that the price of the coupe is 500 thousand euros. For comparison, the starting price of the Corvette Stingray is 10 times less – 58.9 thousand dollars

Founded in 2014, Ares Design is based in Modena, Italy, and is run by former Lotus CEO Dani Bahar. Among the company’s recent projects is Panther ProgettoUno, styled after the legendary De Tomaso Pantera. In addition, the firm is preparing a “crystal” car in cooperation with the French crystal manufacturer Lalique. Its premiere should take place before the end of 2020.
