1000-hp Yenko Camaro or special edition of the iconic supercarFebruary 14, 2020
Tuning company Specialty Vehicle Engineering introduced a modernized version of the sports coupe Chevy Camaro with a 1000-horsepower engine. Cars will be available at Chevy dealerships. In total, 25 copies of the supercar in coupe and convertible bodies will be built.
Many companies that develop high-performance cars had to reduce the displacement of their engines, as well as their power output. Strict environmental standards are to blame.
The tuning company Specialty Vehicle Engineering must not be particularly concerned about the stricter emission standards – after all, the guys presented a highly modernized version of the Chevy Camaro sports coupe, whose engine power is 1000 horsepower. By the way, the engine was made almost anew.
The car was named Camaro Yenko / SC Stage 1 and is positioned as a novelty in the 2020 model year.
A specially created 6.8-liter V8 engine was used. It is based on the LT-1 engine and uses a supercharger to produce even more power. The car will be offered both in the coupe and in the convertible. As a base, the company uses the Camaro sports coupe in versions 1SS or 2SS, but only with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Yes, the studio used a substantially different engine for its project, but many of Camaro’s signature features remained untouched. In particular, Brembo’s six-piston front brakes and Brembo’s four-piston rear brakes, retuned suspension, engine oil cooler, dual-mode exhaust system, limited slip differential and much more. The novelty will also receive a front 1LE splitter and a rear spoiler.
Specialty Vehicle Engineering will build only 25 copies of the Yenko Camaro. Each will be numbered and will be delivered with a special certificate of origin. Pricing information is not available at the moment, although it is unlikely that the car will be cheap.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that Chevy is releasing a special edition of Camaro, but only for Japan. The American company is going to release a limited edition version of its sports coupe Camaro – the new version will be designated Heritage Edition. The car will be sold only in the domestic market of Japan.
