Will the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class get the “long” version?January 6, 2019
A brand new generation of the German full-size sedan, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which the W223 will receive in-house index, will most likely be presented only in the long-wheelbase version. And all this thanks to the current E-Class.
Official representatives of the German brand Mercedes-Benz have already confirmed the appearance of the updated representative S-Class. Of course, that is good news, considering that the brand has recently focused on the production of crossovers and SUVs. In the end, the S-Class can rightly be called the best sedan from Mercedes-Benz – this car has always received all the latest technology from the automaker.
We have not yet received full information about the full-size sedan of a new generation, but we still have one interesting news.
As insiders assure us, the updated Mercedes S-Class will be supplied only with a long wheelbase. That is, the seventh generation of the model will no longer be produced with two different wheelbases.
The novelty, which will receive the internal index W22, can thank the current version of the E-Class for making this decision. Since the length of the E-class has grown to 4920 mm, it makes no sense to offer an S-class with a short wheelbase to customers. It is expected that the new S-Class will occupy a length of 5 280 mm.
At the moment, this information has not yet received its official confirmation. We already know for sure that the new executive class will receive a “autopilot” of the 3rd level, the newest infotainment system MBUX. In addition, the new Mercedes S-Class will have a fully electric version with an EQ S badge.
