“With supercapacitors, you can store up to three times more power than using a conventional battery,” said Lamborghini Technical Director Mauricio Reggini. “However, it is obvious that at present, a car with a hybrid motor on supercapacitors will not be able to guarantee a power reserve of even 5-10 km in fully electric mode.”

  Therefore, the successor to the Aventador supercar will use a plug-in hybrid engine that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and provide a good power reserve when using an electric motor alone. The downside of such cars, Mr Reggian, called the fact that batteries and electric motors increase the overall weight, which could only be reduced by a lighter chassis.

 It is reported that the successor to the Aventador model may appear no earlier than 2024. Rumors have it that the powerplant may have three electric motors with a total power of 1100 horsepower.
