Volkswagen showed sports and hybrid Tiguan on videoJuly 3, 2020
The rollers also featured an updated crossover with the R-Line package.
Following the world premiere of the restyled Volkswagen Tiguan, the manufacturer released several videos that allow a more detailed assessment of the design features of the model. The main emphasis was on fundamentally new modifications – the “charged” Tiguan R and the “green” Tiguan eHybrid.
Perhaps VW Tiguan is not the most beautiful compact crossover in the world, but there is no doubt in its commercial success: last year Volkswagen sold almost 911 thousand units – even more than Golfs. Therefore, the design concept was not changed globally, but only brought it in line with the appearance of other fresh models and, in particular, larger off-road vehicles.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2020 boasts a host of technological innovations: from matrix headlights and touch control of the climate system to an advanced adaptive cruise control and infotainment complex based on the MIB3 architecture, which is an order of magnitude superior to the previous multimedia system in computing power.
The Volkswagen Tiguan R, now at the head of the range, is easily identified by its special bumpers, 21-inch wheels with blue brake calipers, four tailpipes and a rear diffuser. It is driven by a 320-horsepower “turbo-four,” which combines with a seven-speed robot and all-wheel drive with the R-Performance Torque Vectoring system, which simulates an active rear differential.
Volkswagen Tiguan eHybrid has accents typical for all “environmentally friendly” models of the brand in the exterior; displays specific to hybrids are displayed on the cabin displays. Like many other VW Group “outlets”, such a crossover with the proper charge level always starts in fully electric mode and can travel with the engine turned off for up to 50 kilometers. When a gasoline engine is involved, the total system output reaches 245 hp. – like the “heated” hatch VW Golf GTE.
The updated Volkswagen Tiguan will appear on the European market this summer. Soon, an elongated Tiguan Allspace with an optional third row should join it.
