The tuner has developed a manual transmission for the Ferrari 458 Italia supercar.June 6, 2019
Ferrari may not be very fond of manual gearboxes, but in Texas (USA) there is a tuning company that is passionate about the idea of connecting to the powerful Italian engine manual transmission.
The European automotive group from San Antonio already has experience in installing 6-speed manual in the Italian F430 Scuderia supercar, but now the company is becoming a little more ambitious. As shown in the video above, the definitely more interesting model 458 Italia can also soon receive a gear lever, as well as a clutch pedal.
Now a small amount of information is available, but it is also quite interesting to listen to it. Fans of Ferrari know that the model 458 has never been offered from a manual transmission – it was the first Ferrari with an average engine location, which completely abandoned this box in favor of the “automatic machine” with double clutch.
According to representatives of the European Auto Group, they already have a lot of applications for Ferrari supercars, which are equipped with a manual transmission. The most popular models in this regard are the F430, 458 and 488.
It is reported that all work must be completed in a few months. With regard to the used mechanical transmission, the engineers of the European Auto Group have not yet decided anything.
Modern dual-clutch gearboxes can change gears faster and more efficiently than old clutch mechanisms, but this does not make driving a car with a really good manual transmission less exciting or enjoyable. Taking into account the passion and lineage that are rooted in the Ferrari experience, we can easily see the faithful owners who decide on such a radical modification of the supercar 458. As for the cost of such an upgrade, this is also a secret, but you can bet it will not be cheap.
