The new Skoda Fabia will appear in 2021December 5, 2019
The new Skoda Fabia will be presented in 2021 and exclusive images of the new product have appeared on the web.
Skoda is preparing to introduce the fourth generation of its popular supermini Fabia, which is due to appear in showrooms in the first half of 2021. The current Fabia was introduced at the end of 2014, so we expect an update. Skoda has updated its platform, which will allow it to give the car a more expressive look, as well as to modernize the transmission and interior.
While the sister cars SEAT Ibiza, Audi A1 and Volkswagen Polo are now based on the MQB A0 VW Group platform, the existing Fabia consists of a mixture of MQB parts and the relatively old PQ26 architecture. Skoda recently began testing the first prototypes of the car. Including the novelty has already been tested by the head of the company Bernhard Mayer.
When asked if Skoda was going to accelerate the development of the next Fabia, Mayer said: “Yes, of course, we are trying to advance a little faster. If you are talking about cars that are related to my personal motivation, this is Karoq, this is Scala, this is Kamiq, this is Octavia, now the updated Superb, in all respects the MEB electric car – and that will be Fabia as well. ” Then he added: “I only drove the first Fabia prototype on the MQB A0 last week. I can already tell you that I can’t wait to bring this car to the market. ”
On the renders presented, it can be noted that the next Fabia will look more expressive than the current model, which is considered one of the most conservatively styled supermini. Expect a wider grille, more pronounced wheel arches and more sophisticated LED optics. However, the roof line will remain relatively high at the rear; Fabia is considered a small family car in several key markets, so it will still have to accommodate two adults in relative comfort in the back seats.
In fact, the interior space will be the same as the current car, because Skoda recently introduced the Scala hatchback and making a competitor from Fabia is not practical. Nevertheless, this place will be enough to make it one of the most spacious cars in its class – and the transition to the MQB should bring benefits in sound insulation and sound insulation, making the novelty even more comfortable.
In addition, supermini will receive new technologies. The Skoda MIB 3.0 infotainment system, introduced at Kamiq, will be on the equipment list. It is likely that some versions of the car will receive a 6.5-inch multimedia display, but other configurations will also be available: 8-inch and 9.2-inch monitors.
Under the hood, the Fabia is likely to house a 1.0 or 1.2-liter TSI engine with 94 hp or 114 hp 1.5-liter TSI with 148 hp with cylinder deactivation, it can also be introduced in the engine range, and Fabia can also get soft hybrid technology from the VW Group.
The new Skoda Fabia is expected to debut in early 2021. The world premiere is likely to take place at the Geneva Motor Show, and sales in the UK will begin in the summer of that year.
