Opel will miss the Geneva Motor Show because of the lack of new productsJanuary 17, 2018
The company Opel will not participate in the next Geneva Motor Show, which will be held in March this year. The management of the German brand decided to skip the motor show due to the absence of significant premiers in 2018. About this, with reference to its own source, informs Automotive News.
In 2017, Opel introduced seven new models and their modifications, including the Grandland and Grandland X crossovers. At the same time, this year the German brand, which is part of the PSA Group, does not plan to release any significant novelties.
Earlier Opel unveiled a development plan, which the Germans will adhere to as part of the PSA group. The new strategy, called PACE !, involves a return to profit by 2020, the unification of platforms and engines, as well as a massive shift to hybrid and electric power plants.
By 2024, Opel expects to shift to using only two automotive architectures against the current nine. The number of powertrain families will be reduced from ten to four. At the same time, the German brand plans to use the PSA chassis on some of its new models.
Plus, the management of Opel said that by 2020 the company intends to enter 20 new markets. Whether the German mark will return to Russia is not yet known.
