It has long been rumored that the German company Porsche plans to introduce a fully electric version of the compact Macan crossover. A couple of minutes ago, the press office of the automaker officially announced this version of the model. However, we do not know when we should wait for the presentation of the green crossover.
According to Julian Baumann, who is the director of the Porsche crossover development department, the upcoming all-electric Porsche Macan will be available along with the regular versions of the car – with internal combustion engines. As Mr. Baumann emphasized separately, “some of the company’s customers are not ready for electric vehicles.”
But in the end, the electric Macan will be very different from the usual version of the SUV, because it will be built on the platform of the electric Taycan sedan, which is slightly modernized for the crossover.
This is a completely “new” development of the German Volkswagen Group, which includes Porsche – Premium Platform Electric (PPE).
At the same time, Baumann added that the most powerful version of the 2020 Macan electric Macan will be able to develop about 700 hp. (1017 Nm). Torque will be directed to all four wheels through two electric motors that drive each axle.
