Daihatsu starts selling a new generation of TantoJuly 11, 2019
The developers continued to develop the concept of the most versatile urban car with a spacious and convertible interior. For the first time in the segment, the novelty receives a semi-automatic parking system.
Tanto is one of the key models for Daihatsu. It appeared in 2003 as the first “high microwin of increased universality”. In the second generation, the car received one of its main “chips” – a combination of front swing and sliding rear doors in the absence of a central pillar and a wide longitudinal range of seat adjustments. In the third generation, this scheme was improved and expanded, moving also to the driver’s side, and in the new fourth car it was developed from scratch, but with all the positive aspects of its predecessors.
Tanto becomes the first model on the new DNGA platform. The developers managed to increase body rigidity by 30% and at the same time reduce weight by 40 kg. The floor is 16 mm lower than that of its predecessor, the front pillars are narrower, the seats are completely new, the range of horizontal adjustment of the front seats is up to 540 mm. For safety reasons, the driver shifts to the maximum distance only if the variator selector is in the “P” position.
The first of the Tanto key-cars is the semi-automatic parking system Smart Panorama Parking Assist, which, guided by the marking lines, independently creates a trajectory for optimal parking (including parallel).
The cost of Daihatsu Tanto is 1,220,400 – 1,873,800 yen.
